California Could Face Floods, Blizzards from Huge US Storm, Portland Buried by Nearly a Foot of Snow

A coast-to-coast storm that paralyzed roads and blacked out nearly 1 million homes and businesses is set to pound California, sparking warnings about floods and blizzards. The National Weather Service says the storm could dump as much as 5 feet of snow in some Southern California mountains. In the Pacific Northwest, much of Oregon’s largest city, Portland, was shut down after almost a foot (30 centimeters) of snow fell unexpectedly.
