Justice Thomas: Court Should Revisit Defamation Law After SPLC Labeled Christian Ministry a 'Hate Group'

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear D. James Kennedy Ministries' (DJKM) defamation and discrimination lawsuit against the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) for its published claim labeling the Christian ministry as a "hate group" alongside the Ku Klux Klan, Neo-Nazis, and other infamous hate organizations. Even though the Supreme Court declined to hear the case without comment, Justice Clarence Thomas signaled to the high court that it should revisit the longstanding precedent regarding defamation lawsuits.
